  • Numbness: If local anesthesia was used, expect numbness in your lips, tongue, or cheeks for a few hours.

Not Covered by Insurance:

It's important to note that while office-based anesthesia at Electric City Dentistry provides substantial benefits, this service may not be covered by dental insurance plans. Aftercare:

1. Supervision & Rest

  • Do not drive, operate machinery, or make important decisions for at least 24 hours.

  • A responsible adult must accompany you home and stay with you for several hours following the procedure.

  • Plan to rest quietly for the remainder of the day. Avoid strenuous activity or exercise.

2. Food & Hydration

  • Start with clear liquids (water, broth, juice) and gradually move to soft foods as tolerated.

  • Avoid spicy, hot, or heavy foods for the first 12–24 hours.

  • Stay hydrated, but avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours.

3. Medications

  • Follow all post-operative medication instructions, including pain relief and antibiotics, as prescribed.

  • Take medications with food or fluids to minimize nausea unless directed otherwise.

4. Oral Care

  • If surgery was performed, avoid rinsing or brushing near the site for the first 24 hours unless directed.

  • Resume gentle oral hygiene the next day, being careful around the surgical area.

5. Monitor for Complications

Contact us immediately if you experience:

  • Persistent or worsening pain

  • Excessive bleeding

  • Fever over 101°F (38.3°C)

  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing

  • Nausea or vomiting that does not subside
